FAQ

DataDoorsWeb

Q. How do I select an Area of Interest (AOI)?

A. Once you have located the general area of interest in the interactive map tool, the next step is to define a more specific Area of Interest using the AOI Selection buttons.

This can be done using the Draw Rectangle AOI, Draw Polygon AOI or Open the AOI Window. When using the option for Open the AOI Window, you must provide the coordinates for the AOI in decimal degrees. Click Update and click Close. Then click the Zoom To Your AOI button and the map tool will pan to the area of Latitude and Longitude that you have specified.

After creating the AOI, you will notice that the map tool shows a hashed area to represent your AOI. This will remain on the map throughout the DataDoors request. Use the Zoom To Your AOI button to zoom to a close-up view of your area of interest.

Q. Can I order products for more than one AOI?

A. Yes, you can order products for more than one AOI. However, you can only specify different products for the different AOIs in some situations. For instance, if you have multiple AOIs and you order a non-temporal product and there is coverage for your AOIs, you cannot specify that you want it for one but not the other. If you are acquiring temporal data and there is coverage for different AOIs, you can pick the scenes under one of the AOIs but not the other.

Q. What is an archive?

A. An archive refers to a specific collection of proprietary imagery or geospatial data from which different products are available to be selected by the user. Choosing an archive is the next step after selecting an AOI.

Q. What is a product?

A. A product refers to a category of imagery or raster dataset (classified by resolution, type, scale, retrieval, etc.) that is available from a specific archive.

Q. What is a footprint?

A. A footprint refers to the extent of a raster dataset. In
DataDoorsWeb, it can mean two different things:

1. For non-temporal data products, the footprint outline shown in blue represents the extent of product coverage that intersects with your AOI. (If there is total coverage of your AOI, then the outline of the footprint is the same as the outline of your AOI).

2. For temporal data products, the footprint outline(s) you see represent the boundaries of all the scenes that provide data coverage for your AOI. If you have many scenes viewed in the map window, a blue outline will represent the scene that is currently highlighted in the results table. Other footprints that are in the results tab but not highlighted are shown as orange outlines. Footprint scenes that have been added to the shopping cart are shown in yellow outlines.

Q. How do I know which License I need?

A. The list of licenses displayed reflects the options available as defined by your Login. Contact your company for more information regarding which license is appropriate for your product.

Q. Why does the ‘Items in Order’ window show a list of three products and the ‘My Order’ window show a list of two products?

A. The table of products listed in the Items in Order window are itemized by scene, while the same selection of products in the My Order window are itemized by product type. The number of items in the Items in Order window should match the # of Items tally in the My Order window.
